EDGE Leadership organizes annual events in order to connect diverse student talent to industry leaders. These events aim to expose marginalized students to a network of recruiters and senior leadership at leading firms across finance, accounting, tech, marketing, consulting, and other industries. With a focus on diversity and inclusion, EDGE Events uniquely platform leaders with diverse identities and offer workshops for professional development that students may otherwise have difficulty accessing.

Opportunity

EDGE is seeking talent in the following areas to organize and host a virtual event in August 2021:

  • Logistics
  • Finance
  • Marketing
  • Speakers
  • Delegate recruitment

By applying to this position, you may also be considered for a Co-chair role in which each team will directly report to you and your fellow Co-Chair. The primary function of our events team is to successfully deliver an event around a theme of the teams choosing, that communicates the benefit of diversity and inclusion at the corporate level and allows students to build relationships that can propel their careers.

Duties & responsibilities

  • Work together with all teams to organize event details and secure the attendance of post-secondary students across Canada
  • Logistics: Plan the delivery of the event, including date and time, platform, sessions, etc.
  • Finance: Coordinate all transactions and ensure that any expenses are within event budget
  • Marketing: Prepare a robust marketing plan (including website content, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram) to ensure proper communications and promotions of the event
  • Speakers: Communicate the value of the event to potential speakers and serve as their point of contact over the duration of the event
  • Delegate recruitment: Arrange a strategy to maximize student interest and event registration, developing a method to screen through applications

Qualifications

  • Can commit at least 5-10 hours/week
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at a Canadian post-secondary institution
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiastic about brainstorming and problem-solving
  • Prior event planning experience, especially in a virtual format, is a bonus
  • Only third or fourth year students will be considered for the Co-chair role
